The 2026 E.Tarrant & Sons Junior A Hurling Championship Final has a familiar shine to it as Newmarket and Dromtariffe once again go head to head in pursuit of the coveted John Joe Brosnan Memorial Trophy .

This will be the 4th consecutive final between these 2 sides with Newmarket winning in 2023 & 2025 while Dromtariffe were victorious in 2024. Dromtariffe will be contesting their 7th consecutive final and will be hoping to reverse last year’s result  where Newmarket had a commanding 3-28 to 1-23 victory.

Newmarket have had a more straight forward path to the final with impressive group victories over Freemount and Millstreet setting them up for a semi-final tilt with Meelin where Newmarket were always in control on a 1-22 to 1-14 win . Dromtariffe’s path has been more difficult where an impressive opening day group  victory over Banteer was followed by a loss to Meelin and an emphatic  win over Kilbrin in a winner takes all encounter. Dromtariffe did not have it all their own way in the Semi- Final v Freemount , but a strong 2nd half performance saw them emerge worthy winners on a 3-26 to 2-16 scoreline.

Both sides will feel that they have yet to deliver their best hurling  display,  and as always the final will be decided by whoever comes out top in some key individual battles. It promises to be a magnificent final. Referee is Richard King .
